4. TRAINING OF FIELD TRIAL JUDGES.
4.1 Competence.
The requirements to become a trial judge must be put very high, because judging a trial for pointers andsetters are one of the most complicated tasks a field trial judge can be put in front of. To be considered for training as a field trial judge for setters and pointers a person must:

b) Have entered dogs and won several awards (preferably first prizes) at field trials with dogs from their own training, in both puppy (Ukl) and open stakes (Ökl).
c) Have shown a faultless behaviour at previous participation in trials and generally be considered a person of good judgement.
d) Training to become a judge must commence before the age of 55 and has to be completed within 3 years.
e) Have held the position as Field trial manager or Chief Steward for at least two field trials.
4.2 Extension of training.
The training consists of at least one trainee duty in quality stake, a preparatory course arranged by the FAand one candidate duty in competitive stake. Each trainee duty consists of judging during one day with one judge. The candidate duty consists of judging with one judge and the chief steward. (Chief steward not required at forest trials). The FA are arranging preparatory courses that are headed by authorized judges. The candidate should do candidate duty in every form of trial (field, fell, forest trails) in which he would like to become judge.
4.3 Call for training.
One representative (authorized judge) from each breed club forms a working group, FA/DU. The objectivefor this group is to select, on proposal and with stated merits from local club, appropriate candidates to the judge training program. Each representative has to firmly establish support for the proposed with the club committee. The representative should have authorization from the club committee to give approval for the candidates the FA/DU has agreed upon. The decision from the FA/DU should be unanimous and there is no possibility for appeal against the decision. Each approved candidate will be called and given a written appointment by the FA/DU. A queue list of the candidates will be established so there will always be a new trainee lined up if a candidate can not or do not what to fulfil the judge training program. The FA/DU has to choose time and place for the different sections of the training.
4.4 Trainee and candidate duty.
a) Trainee and candidate should have good knowledge of trial rules and regulations in place.
b) Trainee and candidate should judge competing dogs independently and after finished trial deliver written critics.
c) A trainee has the right to ask for and be given advice by the judge in charge and the trainee has, on request, to give open critics to the judge.
d) A candidate has not the right to ask questions or be given advice by the judge in charge and has, on request from the judge, to give open critics to the competitors.
e) Trainee or candidate has the duty to answer questions from the judge in charge.
f) Trainee or candidate is not allowed to influence the running of the trial or the judgement on the dogs.
g) Candidate duty should be announced in the trial catalogue.
h) The judge in charge should deliver written critics over the trainee or candidate duties to the FA/DU within 14 days after the trial.
4.5 Discontinuation of training.
a) If person in question is not approved at any duty.
b) If person in question is showing weaknesses according to 4.1 c.
c) The FA/DU can however call for renewed duty if a trainee has failed but nevertheless is showing signs of suitability.
4.6 Authorization.
The FA/DU should authorize the candidate in question as soon possible after the completion of the trainingand announce this to the FA and SKK.
